Uncharted Records was founded in 2003 as a record label focusing on releasing cool, simple, strange and interesting music that would never be played on any corporate radio station in a million years. The music is basically a reaction to the reality of overproduced pop and techs taking over the art world as they salivate over each juicy new piece of gear and download every update to whatever computer program they make music with. By releasing recordings without all the bells and whistles, Uncharted Records seeks to appeal to those disenchanted with the smug assertiveness and unoriginality of most modern music. We still prefer four tracks over laptops, bedroom closets over control rooms, and sincerity over technicality. Anything else would be to miss the point.

"This Side of Paradise commits almost every sin that a novel can possibly commit," wrote Edmund Wilson. "But it does not commit the unpardonable sin: it does not fail to live. The whole preposterous farrago is animated with life."
